On the Rhine, there is a lot going on! During the three most beautiful days, the Rhystärn will be at the Schifflände and warmly welcomes you with your favorite people, Guggen colleagues, clique friends, carnival acquaintances, or your sweetheart "on the Rhine".

The varied program and opening hours are noted further down on this page. We look forward to three days of carnival festivities with lots of hustle and joy around the Schifflände and the Mittlere Brücke.

NEW: Schnitzelbanggsunndig on the Rhine
For the first time, our Schnitzelbanggsunndig will take place at noon: Sunday, February 22, 2026 on board the Rhystärn.

Enjoy a nice lunch in the middle on the Rhine, while well-known Schnitzelbängg bring the carnival to the stage before the official Morgestraich.

Perfect for everyone who does not have a vacation or wants to experience the Basel Carnival during the day and in a cozy atmosphere.

For the first time, it takes place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, our Schnitzelbanggsunndig on the Rhinestar takes place. A cozy Sunday lunch with pointed Bängg in the heart of Basel.

In the carnival-decorated Rhystärn restaurant, located at the Schifflände, you can expect pure carnival atmosphere. Doors open at 11:30 AM, and at 12:00 PM the Schnitzelbängg performances begin live and up close, until 3:00 PM.

We will serve you a fine 3-course menu including mineral water and coffee. Let yourself be culinary pampered while the most famous Schnitzelbängg provide laughter and food for thought with their verses.

Enjoy a unique Schnitzelbangg lunch on Sunday with friends, carnival acquaintances, or your sweetheart right in on the Rhine. The perfect occasion to dive into the carnival atmosphere already on Sunday!

At Morgestraich, the Rhystärn will once again be the meeting point for active Fasnächtlerinnen, Fasnächtler, and all passive participants. Finally again 'Morgestraich, forward, march!' Sitting together in the midst of the Fasnacht festivities, catching our breath and enjoying food and drinks à la carte! From 04:00 - 08:00 AM, we open the Rhystärn for warming up and recharging. Enjoy a nice Gipfeli or perhaps a warming Mehlsuppe.

In the Rhystärn restaurant in the middle of the Rhine, Bängg will also perform on Fasnacht Tuesday from the following Schnitzelbangg societies: d`Comité-Schnitzelbängg and d`Bebbi-Bängg!

But be careful: Unlike the Schnitzelbank evening on Monday and Wednesday, the Bängge only from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM will perform. Afterwards, there will be a Gugge concert on the panoramic deck.

On the panorama deck, you can discover and enjoy the carnival festivities from a new perspective – our festively decorated, spacious panorama bar is open on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings for warming drinks, and there is no entrance fee.

Cozy blankets invite you to linger comfortably. Guggen, groups, and Schissdrääggzygli are warmly welcomed. There is enough space to comfortably set down the drums and give the Zoggeli a break.

GUGGE CONCERT
On Tuesday, various Gugge formations will perform every half hour starting at 10:00 PM.

A reservation is not required, just come by casually and enjoy the view of our beautiful city from the Rhine.
